Hi there!
I’m excited to introduce you to My Condolences, a new live, online workshop created for people who are supporting someone who is grieving but worry about saying and doing the wrong thing.
My Condolences is the only public workshop in Australia designed for those supporting grieving loved ones (as far as I know!) with a specific focus on helping friends, family, clients and colleagues. It has been created to build confidence and to teach people appropriate and supportive things to say and do when a loved one dies. The workshop is grounded in current grief theory and evidence-based practice, as well as from thousands of anecdotal sources. Participants will learn how to avoid common mistakes, respond with clarity and compassion and learn the skills to be equipped to do what actually helps.
The workshop is also relevant for anyone working in community services, healthcare or mental health. I am available to work with your organisation or team if that’s of interest. Please email me to find out more.
Thanks for taking the time to read. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or would like further information.
Kind regards,
Margaret Martin

About me
As a Social Worker (MSW) I have vast experience working with people impacted by trauma and grief, including working with people with refugee backgrounds (torture and trauma experiences), domestic and family violence, individuals facing homelessness and being unhoused, supporting people in palliative care and in hospital and working with LGBTQIA+ people experiencing family and social violence. I am currently working as a youth mental health counsellor for a national organisation. When my son died in Jan 2024, I realised that my lived-experience of grief and loss, along with my professional qualifications and love of teaching, allowed me to fill such a needed gap.
